Here are Philadelphia’s finest restaurants – from seafood feasts at James Beard winner Vernick Fish to Amy’s Pastelillos for sweet tooths – offering all that Philly has to offer.
Every special moment in life deserves to be commemorated with a celebratory meal; here’s where to find them!
Vetri Cucina
After years spent working in some of Italy and America’s finest kitchens, Marc Vetri returned home to Philadelphia with business partner Jeff Benjamin to open Vetri Cucina in a cozy, historic townhouse which once housed Le Bec-Fin. Over its two decade existence, Vetri Cucina has garnered renewed acclaim, maintaining both The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Four Bell rating as well as AAA Five Diamond restaurants status.
Marc and his team play an instrumental role in the revitalization of Philadelphia’s restaurant scene. Over the last few years alone they have opened Osteria Vetri, Amis, Lo Spiedo and Pizzeria Vetri as well as his latest venture – pasta bar Fiorella.
Vetri Cucina, located in a historic townhouse in Center City, offers an intimate space filled with custom-crafted features like hand-blown Murano glass chandeliers and Richard Ginori porcelain. For an authentic Italian dining experience, they offer a special four-course prix fixe menu which feels like the hospitality version of your favorite Spotify playlist.
Bud & Marilyn’s
Bud & Marilyn’s, named for chef Marcie Turney’s grandparents, exude homey warmth. Caricatures of these two people decorate the walls, and their spirit pervades every aspect of this cozy environment–from pickled vegetables in jars to mounds of kohlrabi slaw on top of kielbasa (with its combination of smooth porkiness and snappy snap).
Turney and Safran have been instrumental in revitalizing 13th Street through their restaurants and boutiques; bringing comfort, memoir and solid Midwestern cuisine into the neighborhood through their establishments. But nothing quite matches Bud & Marilyn’s warm atmosphere for creating memorable dining experiences in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood.
Philadelphia stands out as an exquisite restaurant because of its relaxed yet bustling ambience, from staff members turning down music to announce evening festivities to shuffling about and shaving truffles over chicken to its freewheeling atmosphere. That is what truly distinguishes it as unique.
Friday Saturday Sunday
Friday Saturday Sunday is an unassuming restaurant located in an historic brick building off Rittenhouse Square that has long been beloved by Philadelphians. Chad and Hanna Williams, its proprietors, have expertly balanced its storied status with contemporary American cuisine to become one of its beloved neighborhood landmarks since opening four decades ago.
Though its exact origin remains a mystery, no doubt the hamburger remains one of America’s favorite dishes. From basic smashburgers to gourmet restaurants serving everything from turkey patty stackers and Japanese Fried Chicken buckets – these restaurants serve mouthwatering can’t-miss burgers across the Northeast region.
Libertine Restaurant in Center City is an ideal stop on your theater-going or night out adventure, featuring Derek Davis’ latest contribution to Philadelphia’s vibrant culinary scene – plus it is pet-friendly with valet parking and alfresco seating! Plus it also serves up some delicious coffee!
